Is this how Parkinsons works?

My mom is usually cognitively ok, just a little slow to understand sometimes, but recently she got really confused and kept referring to my boyfriend as our gardener. I took her to the doctor and he said she had a UTI which is what's making her confused. Is that really how it works???
